TikTok duvet hack hailed as ‘the easiest way to change bed sheets’ in minutes

If you’re regularly struggling with your duvet cover when changing your sheets, TikTok user MaddyKate01 says you might be “overcomplicating” things. Instead, have a handy hack that can get the job done in a few minutes, without getting into a mess.

Maddy shares home and life hacks for TikTok with an audience of 114.8k followers. In a video, she shared what she believes is “the easiest way to change bed sheets”. She added: “I used to hate changing sheets but now it literally takes five minutes”.

The key is to turn the duvet cover inside out and then just flip it onto the duvet cover. Maddy explained, “Turn the comforter over and grab the top ends from the inside.” Your hands should be tucked inside each of the corners of the sheet to make a pair of “mittens”.

Maddy continued, “Grab the top duvet corners with your mittens and turn it over. Fold the bottom duvet cover ends together with the bottom duvet corners. Shake it well, pin the bottom and you’re done.”

Video viewers have applauded the hack, with many saying it has helped them speed up their tasks. A username KB said: “Thanks for posting this. It’s going to help me.” Ellie Lups added: “I’ve been doing this for years.”

But despite this being a “favorite hack” of some people, it seems that there are still those who struggle with the job. One user posted under the handle Babzxo said: “I’ve been trying to teach my boyfriend to do this but he somehow ended up inside the sheet?”

Commenters also discussed another method known as “the burrito” which has been a huge hit on TikTok. Lia said: “It’s a rolling one that is apparently supposed to be simple but looks very complicated.”

The hack was shared by Mikayla G, a Canadian TikTok influencer who shares videos with her 5K followers under the username @missmikaylag. She said people who don’t use this hack are “doing it wrong”.

The so-called burrito notch gets its name from the rolling method used to transfer the duvet to the fresh duvet cover. In her video, Mikayla showed a sped-up version of the hack. She said, “If you guys don’t know about this quilt hack, stop scrolling because it will change your life.”

She continued: “[To begin] you take your duvet cover, make sure it’s inside out. And then put the duvet cover on top and roll it really tight until it’s all rolled up.

“Then you take each of the sides and kind of fold it in. This is probably the hardest part.

“And you should be able to roll out the quilt, everything should be perfectly even. Then it’s just a matter of doing up the buttons at the end.

“It’s so much easier than trying to crawl into it, and it’s honestly life-changing. It’s that simple.”
