If you have a teething child and want to try this hack, you can pick up ginger for as little as 50p from Asda.
According to Sun Valley Pediatric Dentistry, to soothe a teething child, take a slice of ginger root, peel and rub the baby’s gums for about 2-3 minutes.
The ginger will cause the swelling to go down and will help relieve some of the toothache.
This practice can be done several times a day.

MomsDailyDiary also noted that ginger has a natural anti-inflammatory quality that can help calm the nerve endings in the gums to reduce swelling and irritation.
The antibacterial properties of ginger are also excellent for preventing infection at the site of the eruption tooth.
