Password hacking is becoming quite common, and according to statistics, 921 passwords are hacked every second of the day. According to the Microsoft Digital Defense Report, password hacking has increased by 74% in 2022 compared to last year. Microsoft and other major technologies are working to make their security system strong so that their users can have a safe experience on the platform. The future does not look so good if all the information is constantly hacked by different hackers.

Many people can use facial recognition and thumbprints to use different Microsoft, but many people still rely on passwords because they are easy to use. As long as passwords are used, people’s information is at risk. To be safe from hacks, it is best if you use different usernames and passwords for different accounts. When you use the same usernames and passwords, it’s easy for hackers to hack all your accounts. A Microsoft report of 39 million IoT and OT devices showed that 20% of people use the same credentials. If you are in that 20%, you should take immediate action and change your login information as soon as possible. You can start by changing your username and password for e-mail, finance, healthcare and social media. These all have a greater risk of hacking. It is difficult to change every single password on every single website, so you should start working with the most important ones.
Now that you’ve changed your passwords, security experts recommend using a password manager like 1Password or KeePass to manage your passwords. All you need to do is remember one password and all your other passwords will be stored in encrypted form on these apps. You can also use these apps to generate strong passwords. These password managers will do a good job of securing your passwords so that you can use them effectively.
While thinking of passwords, you should make sure to choose the random ones that cannot be easily traced. Use two to three random words in a password. If you use a singular word with a capital first letter, it will be cracked in milliseconds. So make sure to generate a password as difficult as possible. Enabling multi-factor authentication is also a must. Multi-Factor Authentication only allows a person to use an account if they have verified information three times. This keeps criminals and hackers away from your account. Google Authenticator works best for that.
According to the Identity Theft Record Centre, most people get their passwords hacked because they share them with someone they think is a friend or customer. Some people also click on phishing links that ask them for their personal information, which is how hackers get the passwords. Never share your password with anyone, whether it’s a friend or someone claiming to be from a bank.
If Apple or Microsoft contacts you from an unknown number and asks for your personal information, it’s probably not them. Most of these hackers know that your computer has a problem and ask for your personal information so they can “fix” it. Reputable companies never contact users randomly for this. By looking at all these points, you can prevent your password from being hacked.
