According to Laura, little and often is the way to go to eliminate stubborn, stubborn fat. Once the oven has cooled, give it a quick wipe down with soapy water and then dry it.
“Ideally, our ovens should be wiped down after each use to avoid a build-up of burnt-on grease which will mean we have to do a deep clean less often,” she said. “But realistically, a few other months are sufficient.”
The inside of an oven should be cleaned approximately every three months. However, if you notice burnt food stuck to the inside of the appliance or smoke when baking, this may mean that your oven needs to be treated a little sooner.
How to clean the oven with a dishwasher tablet
Before starting the oven, it is a good idea to put on a pair of rubber gloves to protect your hands. Then remove any loose ash or food from the oven. Anything that is not burnt on can be swept or wiped away with a brush and dustpan, or a cloth.
Then dip the powder tablet for the dishwasher in warm water so that it absorbs some of the liquid. Be careful not to leave the tablet for too long, as it may start to crumble and become ineffective.
Use the tablet to scrub the inside of the oven just like you would a sponge. Lay the tablet flat on your hand and use circular motions to remove stuck-on debris.
If the tablet starts to dry out, dip it in the hot water again to soak up a little more water.
Finally, wipe away the residue with a clean cloth and leave the oven to dry a little.
