God of War Ragnarok fan shows off a stunning tattoo based on Kratos’ weapon

Some fresh ink from a superfan of Santa Monica’s God of War Ragnarok serves as an incredibly well-executed tribute to the franchise.

A fan of God of War Ragnarok shares a recent tattoo with several of the weapons used in the game under a banner written in half Greek and half Old Norse. This impressive tribute to the 2018 century god of war and the 2022 sequel God of War Ragnarok shows the profound effect the critically acclaimed series has had on the fan base.

Santa Monica has delivered a worthy successor to its triumphant 2018 god of war. Released November 9, 2022, God of War Ragnarok was a huge success, selling 5.1 million units on its opening weekend, was hailed as a Game of the Year contender, and provided enough staying power to become the UK’s number one selling title in the final week of 2022. Sony Santa Monica also announced that an update for God of War Ragnarok will arrive in Spring 2023, which will include the much-requested New Games + mode, among other additions.

Reddit user konner1031 took to the platform to shut down his new god of war tattoo. In a black and white realistic style with some tracing style influence, and sparse but effective use of contrasting colors, the tattoo shows the Leviathan Ax propped upright with the Blades of Chaos crossed in the lower foreground. The tribute to the mysterious weapons used by Kratos is set on a banner that reads “Remember Life,” in Old Norse on the left, and “Remember Death,” in Greek on the right. The subtle shift in language is a clever homage to Kratos’ troubled past and the first pantheon of gods he cut a bloody shard through.

Tattoos play a significant role in god of war universe, Norse mythology, and several Nordic cultures, make konner1031’s fresh ink a smart tribute to the series. The red tattoo that adorns Kratos was etched in honor of his brother Deimos after being cast into Hades by Ares and Athena. As far as honoring god of war series, is konner1031’s latest in a long line of god of war tattoos. There are some amazing examples out there, and this one may stand as one of the best.

No information is known about Sony Santa Monica’s next entry in the god of war series. Whether it comes in the form of an Atreus spin-off series, or Kratos hacking and slashing his way through a whole new pantheon of gods, it’s a certainty that there will be many more killer tattoos inspired by the series to come.

God of War Ragnarok is available for PS4 and PS5.
