IN Ghostbusters franchise, the PKE meter is one of the most iconic and well-recognized gadgets used for ghost detection and more. IN Ghostbusters: Spirits UnleashedThe PKE meter has several functions beyond detecting ghosts, including finding rifts and fantastic ghosts to make them easier to capture and destroy minions.
The PKE meter belongs to Busters’ primary equipment, and players can upgrade the arms, handle, and attachment with unlockable in-game rewards, earned by ranking the overall player level and completing research contracts as players level up the overall PKE meter rank. However, some PKE builds are better than others when it comes to the game’s stat upgrade system, but it’s up to players to choose which upgrade works best for them, their Buster playstyle, and the scary encounters they might face. This list describes the best upgrades available for the most efficient PKE meter.
5/5 Extended arms
The Extended Arms are undoubtedly the best arms for the PKE gauge i Ghostbusters: Spirited Unleashed. They have all the benefits of the Pure Selenium upgrade and more, as they have the same improved Pulse Range for impressive ghosts to a PKE blast stop, but a better restart duration and the bonus of increased ghost detection distance.
When playing as a Buster, the Extended Arms PKE meter gives a boost to detect ghosts further away, and during a battle, its lit arms rise dramatically when a ghost is nearby. Unfortunately, Extended Arms aren’t as good at detecting rifts, but they still have the best upgrade stats overall of the available upgrades, making them an ideal choice for PKE gauge building when unlocked.
4/5 Grab the taped handle
The slightly DIY-hack-sounding Grip Taped handle sits atop all of Buster’s PKE handle choices due to its strong Pulse Range and Equip Speed, making it especially ideal for quickly zapping ghosts. In addition, it has none of the disadvantages of Synthetic Wrap when it comes to ghosting and tear detection distance.
Players can attempt to unlock the Wielder Grip by completing the Wielder Grip Research Contract, located on the computer console inside Eddy’s lab in the Firehouse. However, Wielder Grip comes up short on handling speed, and only allows the addition of sprint with the PKE meter. This makes the Grip Taped Handle a better choice for any player’s PKE meter build.
3/5 Synthetic wrap
A similar alternative to the Grip Taped Handle is the Synthetic Wrap upgrade. The stats match pretty evenly with the Grip Taped Handle, which has the same 3-plus Pulse Range, and it’s also fast to handle with a plus to Movement Speed and Sprint to Action Speed.
However, Synthetic Wrap has the same drawback as Grip Taped Handle in that the restart duration is slower, such as when measuring the cooldown after players use the PKE blast to detect a rift or fake item. Synthetic Wrap also has the disadvantage of weaker ghosting and tear detection from long distances, but if quick use is what players are looking for, it’s still a decent choice compared to the standard handle.
2/5 Detection amplifier
IN Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, The Detection Booster is a valuable upgrade due to its increased ghost detection distance and ghost stun duration, giving Busters a longer window to capture a stunned ghost and allowing players to detect ghosts from greater distances. This is especially useful when a ghost is difficult to capture, such as the faster ectoplasmic ghosts or the highly elusive Toxie Poltergeist. It also has increased movement and sprint-to-action speed, plus a strong pulse range for the PKE blast.
On the flip side, the detection booster lacks when it comes to detecting rips and fake items, plus it has a weaker restart duration. However, for players who focus solely on hunting the ghost, it has great handling speed, making it a good choice for PKE gauge building.
1/5 Outboard motor chip set
The outboard chipset has a great set of stats for catching ghosts, including better handling and the unique ability to highlight ghost objects and detect false objects, which is useful when searching for rips, as objects can give off false signals. The only drawback, however, is a weaker ability to detect cracks hidden by the ghost. That said, this isn’t always necessary as ghosts often carry rifts when trapped, destroy a rift at the same time, and the AI can be useful in single player while searching for rifts.
To get the Outboard Chipset, players must complete the Outboard Chipset Research Contract. This involves killing 50 minions summoned by the ghost using the PKE meter’s explosion function and using the PKE explosion to find a ghost hiding inside objects 25 times, and remember that players can only have 1 active research contract at a time. If players have extra time to dedicate to Side Hustles and secondary quests, the Outboard Chip Set is worth pursuing with its outstanding features.
