Fortnite First Assault Augment glitch breaks the game so much it’s almost cheating

Power-ups were added at the start of Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. They are a real game changer as they allow players to gain certain abilities during the match. While that sounds good, since they’re working with what’s called a random number generator (RNG) mechanic, there’s a lot of guesswork involved.

There is no way to know which Augments players can select until they appear in the selection menu. That said, for those lucky enough to come across the First Assault Augment, they should bag it without hesitation. Thanks to the new bug, it gives the user a distinct advantage in the game that is almost equivalent to cheating.

The First Assault Augment in Fortnite Chapter 4 deals more damage than it should

The First Assault Augment is not the best in the game by any means. Based on the definition given, players can do additional damage when using an AR. The first bullet in the round/chamber will deal more damage than the rest. But for some reason this bonus damage works very differently than described.

While the first bullet in an AR deals more damage to the player’s health, all bullets deal extra damage to their shields. This would in theory allow a player to break the opponent’s shield much faster and with relative ease. To some extent, this feels more like a hack than a bug.

That said, while this glitch is powerful, there is no guarantee that players will come across the First Assault Augment in a match. They may have to use gold bars to re-roll to get it. On the flip side, since this expansion is fairly common, there’s a good chance players will come across the advantage early in the game.

No, it is highly unlikely that anyone will get banned while using this extension. Since the problem is an internal one, it is not the players fault for wanting to gain an advantage in battle. That said, once this bug becomes more known, the developers will likely disable Augment.

The alternative solution to this problem would be to try to fix the problem during the next Fortnite update v23.20, which happens to be tomorrow (December 17, 2023). On that note, since the issue has yet to catch the attention of the developers, it won’t be possible to issue a fix during the upcoming update.

Yes, no doubt about it. With Chapter 4 Season 1’s loot pool consisting of three different ARs, it makes sense to try and get hold of the First Assault Augment. Given that this class of weapon is good for midrange fights, most players will have an AR in their inventory for the duration of the game.

For those lucky enough to get the Tactical Armory and Rifle Recycle Augments along with First Assault, they will be able to dominate midrange. However, this depends on luck and whether or not players can obtain these three boosts in a single match.
