Australian mother-of-two Carolina McCauley has revealed her six favorite cleaning tips of 2022 that have helped simplify her housework

The cleaning expert often shares new cleaning hacks she’s tried out, and in her latest video she rounds up her favorites from the ones she’s tried throughout the year. The hacks include a sofa stain repellant (left) and using power tools to reduce cleaning time (right)
Carolina’s first favorite cleaning hack is to use a liquid protective coating from Protect Me Products to repel liquids from her white sofa.
She sprays the repellent over the couch and any other fabric she wants to protect, and says that liquid spills now roll right off.
Her other favorite hack is to hang her clogs from the inside of the dryer door to dry them without damaging the shoes or making noise.
She catches the top of the laces between the dryer and the door, puts the machine on a gentle cycle and lets the sneakers dry.
One of Carolina’s more bizarre hacks is using a pumice stone to clean her toilet.
The mother wets the stone and rubs it against dark water spots in the toilet bowl to return the porcelain to its original colour.
She also became a fan of using power tools for housework, saying it helps her finish cleaning in “half the time”.
The knowledgeable cleaner uses a cordless electric brush to thoroughly clean bathroom tiles and showers. She also uses a smaller power brush to clean the sink and grout.
Carolina also discovered an easy way to get rid of oil without it clogging the drain.
She puts a piece of aluminum foil down the sink drain, then pours the oil into the foil and lets it cool before disposing of it normally.
Her latest hack is to apply toilet gel to the inside of the litter box to prevent bad odors.
Carolina’s followers loved the hacks. Parents with young children especially loved her trick for preventing sofa stains.
“Pouring oil in foil is this year’s favorite hack! Thank you Carolina,” one woman said.
“The tennis shoes in the back dryer were a game changer,” commented another.
“These are so smart,” wrote another.
